Olivier Monnier joined Crisis Group as French Editor in June 2024. Based in Montreal, Canada, he’s responsible for editing our original publications in French, including reports, briefings and commentaries, as well as coordinating translations. He also contributes to the production of CrisisWatch, our monthly global conflict tracker.

Prior to joining Crisis Group, Olivier spent eight years in Côte d’Ivoire as a reporter for Bloomberg News, covering French-speaking West Africa. From Abidjan to Montreal, his byline has also appeared in various news outlets, including La Croix, IRIN News, The Africa Report, AFP, Les Echos, Mediapart, and Libération. Most recently, he was a writer and French editor for the Africa department of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group.
