The UN Special Envoy for Yemen announced that “the parties have agreed to extend the truce, under the same terms, for an additional two months… This truce extension includes a commitment from the parties to intensify negotiations to reach an expanded truce agreement as soon as possible”. The U.S. State Department hailed the announcement, expressing commitment “to advancing a durable, inclusive peace agreement in Yemen… [and] to mitigating Yemen’s dire humanitarian and economic crisis”. A senior Iranian diplomat reiterated “Iran’s support for continued efforts to establish a lasting and just peace in Yemen”.
